The horrors that evil brings are an affront to our humanity, but the true insidiousness of evil is that it reproduces itself within the fear, contempt, and hatred that evil acts engender within us.

Evil cannot be excised, ended, fought against, nor overcome by anyone other than each of us individually, as no armed force or collective body can fight it because it isn’t anything other than our having turned our hearts away from acceptance, respect, and loving compassion–those always being the unreported victims of evil acts.

If we want to change this world, we must confront our own responsibility for the evil growing in it by our having turned our backs on each other, living in fear, and amusing ourselves by disrespecting the beliefs and concerns of others.
